Are American Ancestors and the New England Historic Genealogical Society the same organization?

Yes, American Ancestors and New England Historic Genealogical Society are one organization! Our organization was founded in 1845 as the New England Historic Genealogical Society. However, our records and expertise stretch far beyond New England. We introduced the name American Ancestors to better reflect the full scope of our resources and expertise.
